Companions of the Chapter of St Michael are encouraged to contribute to the Chapter Blog.

Unlike local Chapters, the Chapter of St Michael 7833 practises Domatic Ritual. This was a decision of the Founders, made when the Chapter was formed in 1992: just as the Lodge "dares to be different" with its ritual, so does the Chapter.

The Chapter of St Michael 7833 meets on the third Thursday of February (Installation), April, May and October, at 6.15 pm at Dagger Lane, Hull.

PGSC9611 Instalation.

by Peter Stokes

Once again it was forcast rain, but it had stopped by the time E Comp Anthony Cadle picked me up for the journey to Malton. it was shortly after 1600, we had a rehersal at 1730.

We arrived about 1715 in good time for the rehersal, if the lodge were open!

The Provincial Stewards Chapter Z is appointed for 2 years so E Comp Martin Monaghan was remaining in the chair, but Haggi and Joshua were both changing so it was an Installation. As Both the incoming E Comps E Comp Kingsley Verity (H) and E Comp Anthony Cadle (J) there need only be a Proclomation not the full ceremony.

Companions started arriving and we were admited by the chef. making ourway to the Chapter room for the rehersal was thinking about the position I was about to undertake, Principle Sojourner, my job to give greetings and close the chapter, Rehersal complete we went to the bar to get a soft drink pre meeting.

At the given hour the Chapter was opened, and the Representative for the evening Deputy Grand Superintendant Hiton Thaker with the Provincial DC was admitted we proceeded with the agenda.

Firstly the minutes were approved, then we had two Ballots one for new Joining Members and one for making E Comp Richard Smedley P2nd Grand Principal, an Honoury Member, both were passed. Then we moved to the Installation/ Proclomation. The Dc E Comp Philip Gallager proclaimed E Comp Martin as Z, Z Proclaimed E Comp Kingsley as H and H Proclaimed E Comp Anthony as J. Next the Officers were invested and positions take, and the Installation was done.

We had an update on requirments for the Convecation on 1st August, Further updates will follow.

We received a presentation from the New Members Titled " The Temple Rebuilt" an interesting presentation with both historic and current lessons. When I am Z I may arrange for one of these from the Stewards Chapter. Moving on we had Reports and Corrospondance followed by the risings. We then closed the Chapter. The Deputy Superintendant and his DC Left first Followed by the Principals and we went to disrobe and get drinks for the meal.

The meal consisted Melon with Parma Ham Starter, Cold Meat Salad, New Potatoes and other accompanyments, Apple pie with Custard, very nice it was too.

After I had answered the questions we toasted the Gran Origonals then we followed the toast list until toast 5 when the Deputy Superintendant responded.

The Raffle raised £127.00 towards the Festival, I had two tickets win but did not take the prize. The Janitor Submitted his toast after which we made our way out and headed for home, a cooler and dryer journey in good company.

50 years a Chapter Mason.

by Peter Stokes

We travel far and wide as Masonry is distributed in all corners of the inhabited world, but Hull to Richmond Lennox Chapter 123 for an 1845 tyle seemed a very long way.

E Comp Anthony Cadle and I had volunteered to be escort for the newly invested Third Principal on his first official engagement. Presentation of a Fifty Year award to E Comp Robert Terry, more about that later. Anthony picked me up at 1615, the sat nav said we had time (as long as the roads were clear.) He opted to go M62- A1 as this was deemed the faster and so it proved, the road works only came out at night so we had a good trip up there. After Locating the Lodge Building with its impressive masonic pediment, and parking we made our way in and signed in and robed, E Comp Kingsley Verity (Provincial DC for the event) gave us our briefing who what when and where. and we had five minutes to relax.

The Chapter opened and the opening ode was sung, I note this because I had bever heard this hymn before. Different but nice different. The Scribe N advised the Janitor to knock and E Comp Kingsley was admitted. Time for our first roles Anthony led in the Escort while I remained outside E Comp Kingsley led in an Officer from Grand Chapter, then I announced and led in The Assistant to the Provincial Grand Principals. Once E Comp Martin Monagham was at his seat I took my place in the Escort. The Third Grand Principal was introduced and passed the Escort and then took the Sceptre from Z. He introduced the team and then returned the Sceptre. We were then seated.

On with the agenda: Item four, "to Present a 50 year Certificate to E Comp Robert Terry." The presentation was a "This is your Life" type format with Questions put by E Comp Nick Mitchell 3rd Grand Principal and answered by E Comp Robert. He had lead an interesting life having travelled the world on ships as an engineer and also built Oil Rigs for the North Sea. Onwards with the agenda.

There was a ballot for a new member for Exaltation. I had noted a number of white ribbons amongst the Companions and summised this was a healthy Chapter with a good feed of new Companions from the associated Lodge. The ballot proved successful

E Comp Nick Mitchell was kept busy as the next item was to present a Grand Chapter Certificate to Companion Oliver May, (it was announced by the Almoner that Comp Oliver had just become a father.) So Congratulations all round to both.

After propositions etc came Reports. The Almoner reported a healthy Chapter and the Charity Steward informed us that the donation voted for at the last meeting had gone ahead. There being no other business we moved to the risings where greetings were given.

The Chapter was then closed. After Photographs (sorry I was in them and couldn't take any). we disrobed and made our way to the the Holly Hill Inn where we were to dine. The menu was fish and Chips followed by Apple Crumble with Ice Cream, After Grace was said we tucked in. Once finished and thanks given, Z (E Comp Des McKenzie) questioned the Principal Sojourner (Comp Andrew Vincent) and then we drank the toasts. At toast 5 E Comp Des gave an overview of the 3rd Principal's resumé before proposing the toast, E Comp Nick responded and congratulated those receiving honours at the Convocation in August. After the Raffle was drawn and some notes the final toast was given by The Principal Sojourner and we got ready for the long trip down the A1. Just an Installation to go for this week!!

Provincial Grand Stewards Chapter 9611

by Peter Stokes

Last night a meeting of the Prov Grand Stewards Chapter took place in Malton, I am privileged to be a Grand Steward so I attended. There was to be a discusion about the future role of the PGSC and PGSL in coordinating events rather than just being DC's Also future meeting spaces was on the agenda and as with most Lodges and Chapters subs were to be discussed. All in all quite an important meeting; accepting that Schools were on holiday and parents may be taking their children away I was disappointed at the numbers, only fourteen for dining, and only sixteen showed up. Admitedly there was some illness and working involved with the absentees but surely for topics as important as this, more could have and should have made the effort . . . Rant Over.

I was picked up by E Comp Anthony Cadle (he enjoys driving) at 1700. It should be a little over an hour to get there and Tyling was for 1900. After an uneventful drive we arrived at 1810, other Companions were also arriving so we were in good time. Upon entering the lodge I made my way to the kitchen to make myself known to the chef, she offered me a choice (which was nice) and having made my vegetarian selection I signed in.

Anthony had told me on the way up he was to nominated for the J role in the Chapter and as the existing J was away he was starting tonight. There is no ladder: H and J are invited by the Z who has his role for two years. The others are one year positions.

After we had taken our seats in the Chapter room with its uniquely tiled floor, the Principals entered and opened the Chapter. We quickly worked through the items on the agenda with minutes etc, next came a presentation from APGM Simon Simpson who is Executive Lead over Provincial Events, he laid the ground work for the discussion and after some clarifications his suggestions were deemed to be a good idea and now needed to put into action. Also within the discussion were where the Chapter meets and how often with a view to falling attendances, This was a thornier subject as the suggestions were centered on York and that isn't the best place especially if you have to drive.

Moving on we reviewed the Investiture of MEGS at York Race course and how effective the Chapter had been, We had performed every task set for us and some were not supported by the London Team. Once again the lesson is communication but it needs to work both ways.

Next up: we elected the Three Principals and the Treasurer for the oncoming year.

The Scribe E was unwell and the details for the next item were not available so Election of the new Stewards was carried over to June. After correspondences and the risings the Chapter was closed and we gathered in the dining area for the Festive Board.

There were only two courses so after grace was said we had Melon Slices with a Raspberry Sauce followed by Chicken Pie with seasonal veggies. (I had the vegetarian option which was lovely.)

We then submitted the regular five toasts and after Parish notes we set out for home. I had a lot to think about and there were some revelations about the role of Steward I was unaware of. I am enjoying my active role; I hope I can enjoy my Past Steward role as much.

Humber Installed Principals 2494

by Peter Stokes

I had made some tentative arrangements to join this Chapter, but circumstances being strange had almost scuppered my plan. A chance conversation with PMEGS Jeffrey Gillyon where he said he would happily sponser me.

I made arrangements to travel with E Comp Peter Wright to Driffield where the meetings take place. I was to drive and park near his house and he would drive us up there, the benefits of car sharing!

E Comp Peter is DC of the Chapter and on this occasion Acting Scribe Ezra, he was to arrive early to set the temple up, if he could find the equipment. Sykes Lodge Building is an old building with many side rooms, all filled with stuff!

Upon arrival we found the caterers in attendance and let ourselves in, we made our way up to the temple and started the hunt for the equipment, hide and seek with inanimate gear is not fun but more Companions were arriving and many hands make light work and soon the Chapter was set up.

Soon it was time to robe up and take our seat in Chapter, The Chapter was opened and after approving the minutes we set about the agenda, The first business was to invest officers who were missing from the Installation, this complete the chapter held a ballot for a joining member  E Comp Anthony Cadle ( proved succesful) a presentation was then given on " Food for Thought" this started with a history lesson of when Masonry was at its peak and why, moving on through the decades and the slow decline in recruitment and why, a suggestion of and a comparison to Mars Bars and how a rebrand/new approach made them the most popular chocolate bar in the UK today. Mostly the inititives need to start from the top, but there is work to be done in Lodge and Chapter to change attitudes and move with the changes happening around us, consider daylight Chapters for an example. A very thought provoking talk.

Moving on to correspondance and AOB Jeffrey anounced his Sponsorship of my application to join (note new wording) and that would be balloted in the July meeting. after the risings the Chapter was closed and we put the equipment away again.

Assembling for the festive board I took my seat after Grace was said, and we were served Garlic Mushrooms with garlic bread, Roast Beef Yorkshire Pudding with Roasties and Veg followed by Merangue with Strawberries and Cream

There were only two toasts and after some notes from Z we put the dining tables away and made our way back to Hull. It had been a busy evening but very enjoyable and I made my advancement in Masonic knowledge. Many thanks to Peter Wright for driving.

A Pocklington Beacon 4362

by Peter Stokes

It had been a traumatic time for this Chapter, resignations and illness had taken a toll, but tenacity and charactor showed us the way forward.

I was DC to the Representative of The Most Excellent Grand Superintendant (MEGS) E Comp Ian Moore PGStB. The acting Scribe E (E Comp Clive Copley)  had dipatched so many emails re changes I wondered if the ceremony would take place. The J had resigned The H was in Hospital Scribe E had resigned, where would it end?

Assured the ceremony was going ahead E Comp Anthony Cadle picked me up to travel to Pocklington, We passed the time chatting about ceremonies and travel and before I knew it we were arriving.

We were greeted well and I introduced myself to the Representative and the Chapter DC, I went up and surveyed the Chapter room,  Anthony and I then confirmed where the Presentation we were to give was taking place. I then got volunteers for the Escort, this complete I went down to wash my hands!

The Tyling time was fast approaching and the third member of the presentation team was nowhere to be found. The Representative then came to our rescue and volunteered to be Narrator No 2.

The Chapter was opened and I knocked, upon entry I made my way to the reporting station and made my report, The MEZ E Comp Nigel Bell advised admit the Representative under my guidance. I called the Companions to Order and Bought in the Escort, I then Escorted the Representative into the Chapter and after Salutations to the MEZ and Principals, he then took his seat, I then stood down the Escort seated the Companions and handed the Chapter back to The Home DC, E Comp R Ward.

The ceremony of installation was by proclamation and with only the Z present it did not take long. After investing his officers the agenda called for our Presentation, The Sojourner Tradition: Real Builders, Ancient Returnees, and the Royal Arch. The presentation was both thought provoking and informative and E Comp Ian Moore read his part well considering he had never seen it before. The Chapter received it enthusiastically.

There being no other business the chapter was closed and we returned for Photographs.

Retiring down to the Bar and dining room we took our places for the Festive Board Menu was Egg Mayo Starter, Braised Beef, Mash and Veg and Choc Chip Trifle or Cheese Board.

There were seven toasts with the "happy meet again" last. I enjoyed my evening in the company of Beacon Chapter and I hope they can recruit and survive, they deserve to.

A Lunch Appointment with Wyke Chapter

by Peter Stokes

My first visit to a daylight Chapter, I was very much looking forward to it, especially after the reports that E Comp John Burton had given about it.

This was my second visit as PSO, an introductory visit. It was also the Chapter's Installation. Upon arrival I made myself known to the MEZ E Comp Malcolm Forbes and to the Scribe E, E Comp Craig Maurier. After signing in, both myself and the car, I dressed and made my way up to the Chapter Room.

The DC Prov Grand Steward David Green was outside the Chapter and I found the Representative E Comp Eddie Wildman in the small Lodge room.

The greeting had been friendly and some Companions wanted to know what my role was, I explained as best I could.

The Chapter was called to order and the Principals made their entrance, The Chapter was opened and then the door was knocked and E Comp David Green was admitted, an Escort of Provincial Officers left the Chapter and were then readmitted preceding the Representative of the Second Grand Principal in Charge, E Comp Eddie Wildman. He shook the hand of each of the Principals then took his seat.

We proceeded with the agenda: Minutes, Election of an Account Examiner, then the main event, the Proclamation of E Comp Malcolm Forbes as Z, The Induction of E Comp Barry Longstaff as H and Proclamation (in his absence) of E Comp Alexander Hoggard as J.

The installing DC E Comp Andrew Hoggard and Installing Chaplain E Comp Craig Maurier were invited to asume their roles and we were under way. Z was proclaimed (I was outside so missed this). H was installed (a ceremony I was familiar with) and J was proclaimed in absentia.

All three robes were given by E Comp Barry Longstaff with little prompting, after which the Officers were invested, mainly taking on their existing positions.

A Masonic Nugget was given titled "The Vault" after which came reports. AOB and the risings, I gave Greetings on behalf of the Chapter of St Michael and then the Chapter was closed.

The principals were hungry so there was no time for photographs, we assembled downstairs and took our seats, then we queued for the famous (it is in our Chapter) Buffet. Luke had set aside a piece of salmon for me and I can confirm the meal was excellent.

After thanks were given we toasted the regular toast list and at the appropriate time E Comp Wildman gave his response. He started with the history of the name Wyke and a gentle ramble through the background, he bought us up to date with the formation of Lodge and Chapter, He commented on the ceremony and congratulated E Comp Longstaff for learning his ritual.  Festival and Convocations were given due diligence and he then sat down.

There were no toasts to the incoming or outgoing Principals as they were the same with just a shuffle, so it was left to the janitor to give the parting toast and we headed for home somewhat better fed than we had been!

Tabling an Exaltation.

by Peter Stokes

A very wet afternoon as I headed to Beverley, my first visit as a Provincial Support Officer! I didn't have a clue what I was doing but felt safe as Ridings Tablers Chapter No 9586 had always been kind to me!

Arriving at the Chapter I was surprised to find only two people in the bar area and they were also visitors! Apparently every one else was setting the Chapter up for the evening's ceremony. When they came down I was greeted well and engaged with many. I was introduced to the candidate, Bro Leigh Hardy from the RT Lodge. he was looking forward to the ceremony with only a little trepidation.

The Chapter was opened promptly by the MEZ E Comp Fredrick Harrison and his Co Principals E Comp Ian Dixon H and E Comp John Elwood (Stand in) J.

The meeting opened with the reading of a dispensation to hold the meeting, followed by a Eulogy for E Comp Ean William Blair. The minutes were then approved and reports taken. Then on to the main event, The Exaltation of Bro Leigh Hardy. The ceremony opened with questions about the 3rd degree and was somewhat different to the Chapter of St Michael, but all the relavent points were included and it flowed along well. Companion Leigh was Obligated by the MEZ (without prompts) and the stand in Principal Sojourner E Comp Jonathon Mark Mitchel Smith, took him on his journey, The Secrets were given by E Comp Steve Hastings and the Working Tools by E Comp Mark Green, E Comp Barry Jefferey gave the Charge. This completed the ceremony of Exultation and the MEZ gave me an opportunity to introduce myself as PSO to the Chapter. Reports and AOB /Proposals followed then came the risings, I was asked to give Greetings on behalf of Province (a first for me) and I also gave greetings on behalf of the Chapter of St Michael.

There was a photo opportunity which I took prior to goind down to the bar and Festive Board. A spicey Tomato soup was followed by steak pie with veg and an apple crumble with custard for dessert. Feeling very full we then comensed with the toasts including one for the newly exulted Companion Leigh Hardy. All good things must come to an end and so it was the raffle drawn and the prting toast given we gathered our belongings and headed for Hull.

A Time to Play!

by Peter Stokes

Scribe E (E Comp Steven Longthorp) had found something special for us to do tonight, I was looking forward to it, something different, something new.

I picked E comp David Whittall up at 1715 as arranged, and we made our way to Zebadee's Car Park, arriving at 1745. After paying for the parking we made our way to the Lodge. Upon entry we were greeted well but I noticed we were thinner on the ground than normal, holidays and illness having an effect. Having travelled around the Province as an active steward I can observe we are faring better than a lot of Chapters but we need new members.

I went upstairs to dress, my robe was already out (thank you E Comp Peter Wright) so I donned it and was ready for the show.

We opened the Chapter on time and followed the agenda, the minutes were approved, Officers who missed the installation were invested, the Treasurer gave his report, Then on to the event of the evening. E Comp Jackie Chapman (our Preceptor and man behind the scenes) had prepared scripts and a draw for who had which part (or two parts in some cases) He then set the scene for "The Arrival" We told the story of those Israelites whom King Cyrus had released from bondage arriving back in Jeruselem and the issues they faced from basics such as food and water and shelter to more complex such as being attacked by marauding tribes and supply chains. I found the event very interesting playing the roles of Benjamin, twelfth and youngest son of Jacob (pictured) and Tal. I certainly improved my Masonic Knowledge on this day!

When complete the Chapter was closed and we retired down to the bar and dining room, E Comp Alex McCallister (Steward) had arranged a meal consiting of Green Soup, Roast Beef and Yorkshire Puds, veg and spuds followed by sponge and custard or Cheese board. There being no visitors we stopped at two toasts and after singing Auld Lang Syne we departed homewards for an early night.

An Extra Meeting by Special Request.

by Peter Stokes

The Provincial Grand Stewards Chapter No 9611 exists to serve. We provide services from Escorting Rulers, DC'ing for Representatives, Presentations Serving drinks and food at gatherings and Car Park Attendants for Convacations. Tonight's meeting was to discuss the requirments for what was to have been the Provincial Convacation, This is no longer happening on May 9th, this date is now for the inauguration of the Provincial Grand Master and Most Excellent Grand Superintendant, a slightly different requirment that is still in planning.

To hold this meeting Dispensation had to be sought from province as was later explained, the by laws had been altered to accomodate the split convocation system trialled 18 months ago and then rejected.

I was picked up by E Comp Anthony Cadle at 1600 ish to make our way to Malton, as that was the venue. The meeting was scheduled to start at 1900, we arrived at 1740! Malton is a very quiet market town when the market isn't on!

When the Lodge was opened we went in, signed in and chatted with the gathering throng, other than the Installation and Veils I had been unable to attend any meetings due to clashes with Lodge Dates.

At 1900 the Chapter was formed and opened by the Three Principals, the dispensation was then read allowing the meeting. There was only one item on the agenda and this was discussed at length and it was agreed those "Volunteers" would offer their names and contact details to be advised at a later time what tasks had been allocated. The Chapter was then closed and we adjourned round to the bar and dining room for a festive board, a main course of Lasagne with Garlic Bread and Chips followed by Apple Pie and Custard. After the meal we had two toasts and a raffle raising £85 for the Teddy Bears Charity. Then it was time to head for home, a late night but not as late as it could have been!

A Reading with Minerva 250

by Peter Stokes

On Saturday 4th April, I responded to an urgent reqest for a presenter from the Provincial Grand Stewards Lodge 9611. By Wednesday, now furnished with the script, I was at Minerva 250 presenting "From Lodge to Chapter" to the Companions.

When I arrived at Dagger Lane the Security Delegation were occupying the ground floor, so we assembled upstairs in the Red Room. After introducing myself to my fellow presenters we were then introduced to the Chapter Z, H and J. E Comp Danny Betts reassured me my meal was booked!

We took our seats in the Lodge room and the Chapter was opened, Due to holidays and illness there were a lot of stand-ins including Z and H, the DC, Scribe E and Steward. Considering this the evening went exceptionally well.

There was no business other than reports and the election of a new treasurer. This being completed the Chapter was closed.

Our presentation was to be at the Festive Board, after consultation it was decided we would eat first and present second. I enjoyed a fish Pie with Seasonal Veg and Potatoes; it appeared that everyone else had Chicken pie.

Finally we came to the presentation, It was split into three parts with each narrator giving a section then passing the baton on, It was going great: each section following on smoothly until my notes differed from the script, but we carried on regardless and we completed the story in about twenty-five minutes. After a short question break we ended the meeting and left for home, an early night and with time to reflect on what we had learnt.

Chapter of St Andrew 4683. Double Delight

by Eddie Wildman

You know how photographers bully groups of people at weddings and social functions, moving folk about and adjusting poses? With me it's exactly the opposite. I indicated to the Principals as they were leaving the Chapter that I'd like a photo - of them, and the Candidates seperately, and of the 2nd Grand Principal and his DC - then I could place them artistically on the page, next to the appropriate pieces of text.

As soon as the Companions realised I was taking a photo, they rushed up to be included on the picture. "Okay," I said, resigned, "I'll take a snapshot of everybody." But no, someone decided it would be better if some chairs were brought out, and someone else positioned the candidates behind the chairs. To my surprise, nobody took my phone/camera from me and started taking pics (and that has happened before, honestly) but by now I'd realised that I was so small and insignificant that I'd better simply do as I was told.

I didn't really mind. It had been a long ceremony, and I was too tired to argue. But I'm not going to name everybody in the picture. I leave it as an exercise for the reader to spot the individuals.

I was a last-minute applicant to visit, but Ian Sugarman, the Scribe E was welcoming. "It's always good to see you," he told me on the phone. "Especially when you play the organ for us." That's a job I don't mind. I acquired a summons and made notes as the meeting commenced.

E Companion Eddie Brook, (Haggai) had been unable to find a suitable child-minder and his wife was away, so he had duties at home. This is right and proper - family comes first. His place was taken by E Comp Mike Graham, who was impressive; E Comp Jason Garland (MEZ) was on top form and E Comp Phil Beadle was J. There were other stand-ins: E Comp Roy Newton secured his place at the door as Inner Janitor (not an office I recognised, but a useful one, as it saved the Scribe N, E Comp James Billaney a trek to the entrance every time there was a knock.)

The first business was to ratify E Comp as MEZ. He was proclaimed by Scribe E, E Comp Sugarman. He was about to continue when an authoratitive rapping on the door (far too peremptory to be Comp Ian Montgomery, the Janitor) startled those inside. E Companion Jimmy Kerr was admitted, and he announced that E Companion Richard John Smedley, 2nd Provincial Grand Principal and Officer in Charge (pictured) demanded admission. The look of surprise (and in some cases, consternation) on the faces of the Companions made it clear that this was totally unexpected and I wished I'd been able to capture this on my mobile - but taking pictures during Masonic meetings is not permitted. The MEZ's back stiffened as the man in charge of the Chapters in the Province entered in due form, and greeted the three Principals.

The ceremony of Exaltation began. Brothers Okikola Lookman Imam and Eliot Alexander Paul Ray Clawson were admitted wearing their Master Mason Aprons, and after successfully answering the questions put to them by the MEZ, were placed in the capable hands of E Comp Brian Daragon, Principal Sojourner, who led them round the Chapter to the symbolic sacred shrine which is the foundation of the Order. Bros Imam and Clawson listened attentively to the portions of scripture read by J and H, and were obligated together. I was captivated by the smooth choreography, and the Candidates, too, were suitably impressed at the moment of enlightenment. They retired while the "Setting the Scene" interpolation explained that the next part of the ceremony  was an enactment of the backstory. On their return E Comp Daragon told the traditional legend with panache. The new Companions' credentials were recognised and E Comp Daragon enlightened them further regarding the scriptural allusions. Other ritual components were lyrically explained by Comp Roy Newton, and E Comp Sugarman waxed lyrically on the signs of the Order and on the sharing of the triangles (NB non-members, I'm not going to explain that. If you wish to find out more, consider joining the Chapter!) E Comp Roy Newton touched on the spiritual depths of the Order.

Oki and Eliot retired again (Sc E "setting the scene") and returned for investiture, being welcomed by the MEZ, and an explanation of the aprons given by E Comp Smedley. The Charge was expertly given by E Comp Newton.

The closing was beautiful, and greetings were extended from Kingston Chapter, Wyke Millennium, Constitutional and the Ridings Tablers Chapter. Both E Comp Smedley and I were on the edges of our seats, ready to leap up when Malcolm named the Humber Chapter, but he refrained on this occasion.

I've already spoken about the above photograph; those who can read the regalia can pick out most of those taking part.

Luke's festive fare was as delicious as always and the Companions enjoyed themselves. The 2nd Provincial Grand Principal, Officer in Charge, spoke of the current uncertainty about who might be the leader of the Province being hopefully resolved very soon, and opined that the convocation in May would be a particularly special occasion. He congratulated the MEZ and his team on their excellent work and welcomed Companions Imam and Clawson into the Supreme Degree.

The Principal Sojourner toasted the visitors and E Comp Keith Charlesworth of the Constitutional Chapter 296 responded. I was surprised how late we were finishing - there had been no sensation of being there for any length of time, but as they say, time flies when you're enjoying yourself.

That reminds me of one of my favorite apothegms: Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana.

It had been an evening of double delight - two new Chapter Companions and a surprise visit from the man in charge! To top it all, I had a ride home with E Comp Smedley in his Porsche. "Can you drive slowly down my street?" I asked, "I want to wave at the neighbours as we pass."

But now it was time for bed. Well done, Chapter of St Andrew!

Eddie Wildman, guest organist.

Old Globe No 200 Installation

I had co-ordinated the trip to start from my house as I could park the cars off road! E Comp David Whittall had volunteered to drive so E Comp Jimmy (2 Kilts) Kerr and E Comp Anthony Cadle arrived just before 1600 for the trip to Scarborough.

We set off with what we assumed plenty of time, but the Hull and Beverley traffic had other ideas and it was a very slow journey, We arrived at the Lodge building in Scarborough at 1750; they tyled at 1800. That was close. The Masonic Lodge commands a great view of the Grand Hotel opposite. It is a lofty building and there are many stairs to climb to reach the Lodge Room, possibly the highest above sea level in the Province.

We robed, signed in and joined the Active team ready to parade in. E Comp Jimmy as PGDC had sent out a plan so all we had to do was follow the instructions.

The opening complete, Jimmy knocked on the door, he handed Scribe N his card and after being announced went in to bring the Escort and 3rd Grand Principal in. I was to lead the Escort when I got the nod. In we went and lined up facing East then turned North and again East as the 3rd Principal passed us. I think there were eight in the Escort. E Comp Trevor Collinson, 3rd Grand Principal (pictured) entered and greeted the Chapter Principals, he took the Z's Sceptre and seat then introduced the team to the Chapter; we then took our seats.

The MEZ resumed his place, and it was on with the agenda. Sadly, there were two obituaries.

Unusually we started with reports, The Almoner and Charity Steward gave theirs, then there was a ballot for a new member. These administrative jobs done we moved to the Installation. First the Incoming Companions and Excellent Companions were obligated as J,H and Z Elect; next I left the Chapter while Z, E Comp Terence Perks was installed, while outside I witnessed the Janitor try to light the censer and nearly set the Chapter on fire, that made me more aware of the exits and the stairs!

I was recalled for the Installation of H, E Comp Stephen Bellamy and J, E Comp Christopher Burrows. The ceremony was similar to that which we use in the Chapter of St Michael (Domatic), but as with most things Masonic there were some modifications. The ritual was good and the Companions were enjoying it so the objective was achieved.

The Officers of the Chapter were invested, the Warrant passed and then three Members of Dennison Chapter gave addresses to the Old Globe Chapter, I felt this was a great way of bringing co-operation between Chapters rather than competition, Maybe we could look at something simlar with sister Chapters in Hull?

The 3rd Grand Principal was then called upon to present the IPZ's Jewel, There is history attached to the Jewel which Trevor was aware of and told the story. After resuming his seat Trevor was again called upon to present Grand Chapter Certificates to Companions Elmer Robies and Malcolm Hewitt.

There being no other business the Chapter was closed and after photographs we went down to the dining area for a Festive board. The Principals accompanied by 3rd Grand Principal and his DC  E Comp Jimmy Kerr paraded in and we said Grace. Then we were served pan fried Breast of Chicken accompanied by New Potatoes and Seasonal Vegetables Followed by fresh fruit Salad and Pouring Cream. Port was provided if desired.

After thanks were given we proceded through the Toasts, 1st verse National Anthem Loyal Toast, The Grand Master, Officers of UGLE, 2nd Grand Principal Officer in Charge and Provincial Officers, to which 3rd Grand Principal Trevor responded.

The IPZ E Comp John Barley proposed a toast to the Incoming MEZ and his co-Principals to which MEZ responded,  The Principal Sojourner E Comp Tony Dyer proposed a toast to the Visitors; E Comp Roger Kaye of Dennison Chapter responded. E Comp Anthoney Scott, The Almoner gave Absent Brethren and finally E Comp Edward Dalby Gave the Parting Toast. Time was getting on so we gathered our cases and headed to the car for a faster journey home. A good night was had by all.

Hull Old Grammarians Chapter 5129

by Peter Stokes

A request from my daughter had me driving to Cleveland St at 1630, so having dropped her off I continued on to Dagger Lane for tonight's meeting.

This was my last booked DC Duty and I was looking forward to a good ceremony, sadly, due to unforseen circumstances the full ceremony could not take place.

Upon arrival I was well met by E Comp Geoff Branton who was Stand-in DC. He advised me that change was afoot and would tell me what was happening shortly. The outgoing Z was recovering from an operation and could not attend. The incoming J was in the Middle East helping people come home, The incoming H was with his father waiting for an ambulance, and that left only Z to install. There were only seven members of the Chapter present and five visitors including the Representative E Comp Mark Green and myself. Masonry teaches many things and overcoming adversity is one of them.

E Comp John Plater stood in as MEZ, E Comp Michael Graham (St Andrews) as J with E Comp Mark Luscombe in his role as H, The Chapter was opened whilst we waited outside, at the appropriate time I knocked the door and gave my card to the DC/Scribe N; he announced my wanting admittance, the MEZ said "admit him," and my show was on, I took my place in fromt of the Sojourners and made my announcement, there was no escort due to a shortage of people, so I bought the Representative in. We took our seats after I had handed back the Chapter to the DC.

First there was a Eulogy to E Comp Steven Jordon who had passed to the Grand Chapter above in January, RIP.

Next came the Installation, First H was obligated as Z elect, then installing officers were appointed, then I left the Chapter as I am not yet a 1st Principal. upon my return E Comp Mark Luscombe was installed in the Z's Chair. He was presented the Warrant and Book of Constitutions, the Companions were readmitted then E Comp Plater presented the Red Robe. E Comp Mike Graham addressed the companions and the Installation was done!

After reports, there being no other business the Chapter was closed and we retired down to the bar for the Social Board.

I announced the MEZ and Representative and we marched in to take our place at the table, J said Grace and we were served, Tomato and Basil Soup with Roll, Lasagne with Green Salad  followed by Lemon Sorbet or Cheese Board.

We toasted The King, The Grand Master, Grand Officers, 2nd Grand Principal Officer in Charge And Provincial Officers to which The representative responded.

E Comp John Plater proposed the toast to the MEZ and his Officers and E Comp Mark responded. There being no notices and everybody a stand-in, E Comp James Mackman gave the Parting Toast and we went home thinking we must come back in October and see the job finished!

A Technical (5666) Installation

by Peter Stokes

Tonight is my third DC role, It should be getting easier. Due to changes at the top, the MEGS retiring and an issue involving the DMEGS we were representing the Most Excellent 2nd Provincial Grand Principal Officer in Charge, Excellent Companion Richard Smedley. It gets easier the more you say it.

Tonight my representative was E Comp Mark Green PPGSwdB PAGDC. I had seen Mark a couple of weeks ago when I DC'd Ridings Tablers Chapter so we knew each other.

I arrived at Beverley Rd a little later than I intended, there had been an incident and police cars were forcing their way through the traffic leaving chaos in their wake. I used the time to pratice saying Excellent Companion 2nd Grand Principal Officer in Charge!

Upon arrival I was well met with friendly faces, handshakes and greetings, it was like a home coming. I signed my car in and myself then sought out the DC and Secretary, We arranged an Escort and I then went back down to the bar area to count heads.

When it was time for the ceremony upstairs the Principals paraded in and we waited outside till the Chapter had opened, knocking the door and giving my card to Scribe N who anounced me. The MEZ said "admit him" and the show was under way. I will confess to getting tongue tied but that was on the ranks, not the 2nd Principal bit. The Escort went in and got it right despite my instruction. and the Rep was admitted properly and took his seat. I handed back to the Chapter DC and relaxed!

The minutes were approved and we then had a Eulogy for Malcom Stuart Brocklesby delivered by E Comp Jimmy 2 Kilts Kerr, who passed to the Grand Chapter above in December.

Moving on the the main Item on the agenda, The Installation of the Three Principals. First came the Obligations to make them J,H and Z Elect. I then left the Chapter while Z was installed. On my return E Comp Robert John Atkinson was in the MEZ's Chair. I took my seat as E Comp Daniel Brian Laughton was installed as Haggai, I noted that the ritual, whilst similar to the one we use, was slightly different but still gave meaning to the ceremony. Next came the installation of Joshua; Companion Dave Green was taking the Chair for the first time so we enjoyed the full ceremony (Technical Style). The Companions were readmitted and the Principals declared to them, The robes were explained; Red by E Comp Ed Thompson Principal Sojourner, Purple by E Comp Ian Parkinson IPZ and Janitor, Blue by Comp Adam Tunnicliffe 1st Assistant Sojourner. E Comp Keith Challis gave the Address to the Companions and E Comp Ian Parkinson presented the Warrant and Book of Constitutions. The Officers for the year were invested next and there were many smiles when they were invested with their collars. This completed the ceremony of installation.

There had been two Grand Chapter certificates to present but both the recipients were stuck overseas due to cancelled flights, There being no propositions we moved to the Risings, E Comp Hiten Thaker gave greetings from Grand Chapter, E Comp Mark Green (Representative) gave Greetings from Province and several E Comps gave greetings from their Chapters. The Principal Soj gave greetings from Technical Chapter.

The Chapter was closed and after Photographs we proceded down to the dining room where the delights of the festive board awaited us.

We Paraded in: the Three Principals and the Representative with me bringing up the rear. J said Grace and we were served Smoked Fish Cakes with Creamed Leeks, Beef Bourginion with Mash and Seasonal Veg followed by Sticky Toffee Pudding or Cheese Board.

After the meal came the toasts, demonstrating how many different ways "the Excellent 2nd Grand Principal Officer in Charge" can be said, in every connotation. We took it in good stead as we toasted the King, ME the First Grand Principal, Supreme Grand Chapter, The Excellent Second Grand Principal Officer in Charge and Provincial Grand Chapter to which E Comp Mark Green responded.

E Comp Steve Berry proposed the MEZ and His Officers to which MEZ Responded with outlines for the coming year. E Comp Hiten Thaker Proposed the outgoing IPZ/ Janitor to which E Comp Ian Parkinson responded. Comp Ed Thompson gave the Visitor toast to which E Comp Richard East Thesaurus Chapter Reasponded, Absent Companions was proposed by E Comp Steve Berry and we sang For Those in Peril.  Finally the MEZ Gave the Parting Toast and we set about going home. As I drove up Beverley Rd I reflected on what a good night we had had, but when I got home I felt a fool as my wand was still at the lodge, I will pick it up tomorrow! Good night all.

Chapter Installation

by Peter Stokes

We elected to work in two year cycles, so after two years it was all change at the top. Before I go there let me start from the begining.

I left home to pick up E Comp David Whittall quite early due to HKR playing Brisbane at the MKM Stadium. We came down Beverley Road rather than our normal route and made reasonable time. Arriving at the car park I let David out to meet E Comp Peter Barnes who should be arriving about the same time, Peter requires wheelchair access.  Once in the Lodge building I was relieved to see Peter there accompanied by his wife Linda. People were congregating ready for the Installation, I chatted with the Representative E Comp James (Jimmy 2 Kilts) Kerr and His DC E Comp Anthony Cadle, before making my way up to the Black and White Temple and signing in.

I put on my Chapter regalia and then the Light Blue Robe of "J" then joined the other Principals to parade in. DC E Comp Terry Black led us in and we opened the Chapter and sang the opening hymn. Next came knocks at the door, The Representative's DC was admitted, he wished us Good Evening and anounced the Rep. An escort was formed and we received them and then the Representative came in; after salutations we carried on with the agenda.

The Minutes were approved and then we were on to the main event The Installation of the three Principals. First, E Comp Terry Black was appointed Installing DC and E Comp Alex MacCallister as Installing Scribe N. E Comp John Burton was Obligated as J (Elect) I was then Obligated as H (Elect) and finally E Comp John Boughton was Obligated as MEZ (Elect). At this point I had to leave the Chapter whilst Z was Installed, not having held that Chair. When I returned for the installation of 2nd Principal E Comp John was in MEZ's Chair. I was installed into the chair of Haggi, E Comp John Burton was bought to the J Chair where I installed him as J of the Chapter.

As J and Z had held the chairs before the only robe given was the purple robe to me. E Comp Alex MacCallister captured the meaning with his recital, I was very moved.

The Warrant was presented by IPZ E Comp Stephen Prior and the Book of Constitutions and By Laws by E Comp Terry Black, the investment of Officers was next, completing the ceremony of installation. E Comp John rose for the first time and E Comp Eddie Wildman gave salutations from Grand Chapter. At the second rising E Comp Kerr gave salutations on behalf of Province, on the third and fourth rising Visitors gave salutations and Principal Sojourner E Comp David Whittall gave salutations on behalf of the Chapter.

The Chapter was now closed and we sang the closing hymn, after which we processed out only to return for photographs.

We then retired down to the bar area for refreshment before the festive board.

After we Paraded in and Grace was said, we were served a delightful meal of Butternet Squash soup with a roll, Beef Stew over Mash and Veg,followed by a choice of Rice Pudding dessert or Cheese Board.

Conversation flowed and looking at the smiles around the room everyone was having a good time. After coffee with After Eight Mints and thanks being given we got down to the serious business of the Toasts. After the Loyal Toast the Grand Master and Grand Officers, a new title: 2nd Grand Principal  in Charge E Comp Richard Smedley. and finally Provincial Companions to which the Representative responded. After thanking us for the welcome and bringing greetings from the 2nd Grand Principal in Charge, he reviewed our past year: whilst we did no Exultations we had kept busy with other items. He commented on the happy feeling he got from the smiles on the companions faces and that he was sure our Chapter would prosper.

E Comp Peter Wright proposed a toast to the incoming Principals and Officers and The Principals song was performed by E Comp Terry Lynn accompanied by E Comp Eddie Wildman; E Comp Terry Black proposed a toast to the IPZ and his Officers, E Comp Stephen Prior responded and noted that there were five Founder members present and one was retaking the MEZ's Chair.

E Comp David Whittall proposed the Almoners Toast and we sang the unique song of St Michael in memory. E Comp Steve Longthorpe proposed the visitors toast to which Comp Andrew Lennerd White of St Andrews Chapter responded.

E Comp Peter Wright gave the Janitors toast after which we joined hands and sang Auld Lang Syne as is the tradition in St Michael's Lodge and Chapter.

We prepared for home after putting Peter and Linda Barnes in their Taxi and I reflected on a good evening well spent.

St Andrews No 4683 Installation

by Peter Stokes

It hadn't rained much today, I had spent much of the day revising ritual for our Installation, I was not as nervous as last week! Giving myself plenty of time I left for Beverley Road arriving at 18:10, the car park was very empty. Hope I haven't got the day wrong! I tapped on the window and the door was opened by E Comp Ian Sugarman, Scribe E, I knew then I had the day right.

I signed my car in and made my way up to the Lodge Room, seeing it first hand helps me visualise what I am going to do. I left Ian there setting up while I went back down to sign myself in.

Companions started arriving including E Comp Geoffrey Toulmin, The Representative for the evening. I introduced myself to him, Then I found the stand in DC, E Comp Michael Graham, and introduced myself to him.

asked about an escort, he advised me that there was a shortage of Provincial Officers not in post so the Rep decided to not have an escort. Less work for me.

Time was passing and as the Chapter assembled I finished robing and made my way up, I had furnished the Scribe Nehemiah with my details so all I had to do was walk in at the appropriate time. That time was now, the door was opened and I walked in proudly carrying my wand, I saluted the column and taking the speaking pose, wishing them a good evening, I announced the Representative. I collected him from the door and after his salutations escorted him to the East where he greeted the Principals. After he was seated I handed the Chapter back to the Chapter DC and sat back for a good ceremony.

Z and H were staying in their chairs so there was only J to install; although Z was absent due to work both he and H would be installed by proclamation. I am not sure what I expected from the ritual perspective but was pleasantly surprised when I realised St Michael do the same ritual for installation. Haggai, E Comp Edward Brook, installed the incoming J Comp Philip Beadle in an excellent ceremony without any stumbles or hitches. The Blue Robe was presented by Comp Robert Thirsk,  the incoming Officers were invested  and E Comp Michael Graham addressed the Chapter.

The next Item was the presentation of a Grand Chapter Certificate to Comp Andrew Lennard-White by The Representative, I made my daily advancment in Masonic Knowledge here!

A Ballot for an Honourary Member was held: E Comp John Bruin was given this privilege. This was swiftly followed by reports and propositions and after the risings the Chapter was closed. We filed back in for Photographs (my thanks to E Comp Paul Bull for the one I'm using) Then down to the bar and Festive Board.

We all found our seats and after Grace we were served Carrot and Corriander Soup, Meat Pie or Salmon and Fresh fruit salad and Ice cream.

We toasted The King, The First Grand Principal, The Pro Grand Principals and Grand Officers, The Most Excellent Grand Superintendent, then Provincial Officers to which The Representative responded. He touched on MEGS Replacment and the Convocation, He promoted Solomon and the courses therein, and also the Building Together initiative.

Next up was E Comp Ian Sugarman proposing a toast to the incoming and outgoing teams (combining them displaced toast number six from the menu.)The stand in MEZ, E Comp Brian Daragon responded.

Then followed the Visitors Toast, to which E Comp Malcolm Forbes Responded.  Scribe E gave Absent Sick and Seafaring Companions after which we sang the first verse of Those in Peril. Finally the MEZ gave the Parting Toast and we all agreed we were happy to have met.

Riding Tablers No 9586 Installation

By Peter Stokes

I had been keeping busy all day to supress my nerves, tonight would be my first time as DC to the Representative (who was also on his first visit as Rep) As it got nearer to the time I would leave to pick up Jimmy 2 Kilts: I took to breathing exercises to calm down.

I set out to pick up E Comp James Kerr PGDC (The Representative), we then went to pick up E Comp David Whittall PGADC . The journey flew by and we were at Trinity Lane Beverley before I knew it.

Upon entering the Lodge Building we were greeted well by members and visitors alike. I introduced myself to the Lodge DC E Comp Andrew Pittaway who showed me the layout in the Chapter Room, where the Representative and I would sit etc. before making my way down to the bar to pay for my meal and buy some raffle tickets and to get a small drink to wet my lips.

It was time to Robe up, I signed in as we waited for the Chapter to open, I was announced and made my entry into the Chapter. I greeted the Companions and announced the Representative, called for the Escort (it was going well): "Companions upstanding to receive the Escort etc." All went well. "Companions, be pleased to receive The Representative of Most Excellent Grand Superintendant, James Kerr, Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies." We got to the front and he was seated; there was something else I needed to do . . . Ahhh! "Escort, resume your places!" I handed control back to the Chapter DC and we resumed the agenda.

After the minutes were read there was a ballot for a Candidate for Exaltation, closely followed by reports, then on to the Main Event.

This was the Installation of the three Principals, two of whom had been through the Chair before. Each was questioned in rank order installing rank and then obligated as J,H,and Z Elect. The officer who was to be fully installed was J to H, E Comp Ian R Dixon; he was the first Principal to have been Exalted by the Chapter.

I left the Chapter for the Ceremony as not to spoil my Installation as H next month. When I returned E Comps Frederick Harrison and Ian Dixon were Z and H respectively. I witnesed E Comp James Peter Robson take the Chair of J. The explanations of the robes were given: E Comp James Kerr gave the Scarlet Robe presentation, Companion Karl Douglas explained the Purple Robe of H and E Comp Fred Harrison explained that of J. The Chapter Officers  were invested and the Installation ended.

The Representative presented the Past Z's Jewel which was gifted to the Chapter by E Comp Ling Faang Yu, a Founder of the Chapter.

After the risings the Chapter was Closed and after photographs we went down for some well earned refreshment.

The tables were nicely presented and the table plan worked for me, I was close to but not on top of The Representative. J gave Grace and the meal was served by Chapter members it consisted of Surprise Soup, Sausage and Mash with Gravy and Fruit Salad with Ice Cream. Simple and effective.

The port was passed and the Toasts began; Z gave  the King, H gave the Grand Master, J gave Supreme Grand Chapter Officers, and Past Z the Most Excellent Grand Superintendent. The MEZ resumed with a few words about E Comp James (2kilts) Kerr, and Jimmy responded,  complimenting Ridings Tablers on being a top ten Chapter with steady recruitment and retention. He acknowledged the friendliness of the Companions and the efficient way they went about running the Chapter. Finally he thanked all of those looking after him on his visit.

The next toast was proposed by the Past Z, E Comp John Ellwood to the  New Zerubbabel, who responded after E Comp David Burnett PAGDC accompanied by E Comp Eddie Wildman, sang the Three Principals Song. Z then proposed a toast to the Past Z and His Officers to which E Comp  Ellwood responded.

E Comp Barrie Jeffery proposed a toast to the Visitors. E Comp Nick Varey  gave a well founded response.

The next toast was somewhat unusual but I know Ridings Tablers do it after every Meeting: the Founders, to which E Comp Mark Green responded. The raffle was drawn and any notes or things unsaid were conveyed before E Comp John Bridges Gave the Parting Toast:  Happy to meet Happy meet again.

We set off Homeward Bound having enjoyed a splendid evening.

Team Visit to Agricola Chapter 1991

by Peter Stokes Provincial Grand Steward

It was a wet and windy afternoon when E Comp Anthony Cadle picked me up to go to York. We were part of the Provincial Escort for Provincial Third Grand Principal E Comp Trevor Collinson.

The journey was mainly uneventful till Poplington, where an impatient driver pulled over from a T junction almost causing an accident, fast reactions from Anthony prevented this.

We arrived at Castlegate car park at 1730, tyling was 1815 so we had a little time to get ourselves together. We entered the robing room and were greeted by other active team members.

Due to a family bereavment E Comp Kingsley Verity was not able to attend so E Comp David Whittall was to be DC. Once we had dressed and armed ourselves with our staffs, he took the team down to the Lodge Room for a rehearsal. It is much easier to picture in situ than from a written instruction.

It quickly became time to form up, as the junior rank I was to lead the escort in. When David returned to the door he anounced to the Chapter it was to receive an Escort of Active Officers; he gave me the nod and I led the team in. We went through the drills like clockwork and E Comp Collinson took the Z's Sceptre and introduced the team. Once we were all seated the meeting resumed with the minutes. There was a ballot for a Candidate for Exaltation followed by an Election for MEZ. The Companion who was due to be MEZ has been diagnosed with cancer just before Christmas and is therefore unable to take up the role. We wish him well and hope for a speedy recovery.

On with the Installation, The incoming J and incoming H were each obligated; Z having been through the First Principal's Chair before simply confirmed his obligations. It was time to install the Principals and I left the Chapter until the Third Principal was being installed. The Chapter practises the same ritual as St Michael so I was gifted with some pointers.

Once the triumvirate were in their Chairs the convocation was closed and the robes were explained. I was impressed with E Comp Alan Falconer's delivery of the Red Robe, his diction and actions made it special. The robes were followed by the Investment of Officers, and then reports. There were no propositions so on to the risings. during which a Grand Chapter Certificate was presented. A Solomon Diploma was presented to E Comp Matt Clark. after which the Chapter was closed. We paraded out, then came back for photographs.

We then retired upstairs to the bar and dining room.

Supplied with drinks we took our seats for the festive board. The Menu consisted of creamed mushrooms with cheese, chicken in a white wine sauce with potatoes, cabbage and peas, followed by profiteroles.I didnt see very much waste! A glass of port was offered to all and we settled in for the toasts. The first four were submitted and the fifth was a brief resume for  E Comp Trevor Collinson who then responded.  He updated the situation regarding the PGM/MEGS and his health issues. He updated progress on the Festival (£740K raised so far.) He reviewed Agricola Chapter's status in the top echolon of Chapters with new members and retention going well. The past MEZ gave the next toast to the incoming MEZ who responded, The Principal Sojourner gave the Visitors toast; E Comp Mark Iveson being a regular visitor, responded. Finally the DC E Comp Matt Clark gave the Absent Brethren toast after which it was time to go home. An uneventful trip back after an evening of very good ritual and good company, Now to prepare for a first degree tomorrow!
